Before You Visit
Our policies
A few things worth knowing before you dine with us or book an event. Anything not covered here, just call — (847) 677-3463.
Kosher supervision
Shallots Bistro is 100% kosher under the supervision of the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc), and has been since we opened in 2004. This applies to everything we serve — in the dining room, for takeout and delivery, and on every catering order that leaves the building.
Shabbat and Jewish holidays
We are closed every Friday and Saturday for Shabbat and reopen Sunday at 4 PM.
Hours also change around Yom Tov, Chol HaMoed and fast days — we may open late, close early, or close entirely. Current changes are always posted on our hours page. Around a holiday, please call ahead to confirm before travelling.
Allergies and dietary needs
Please tell your server about any allergy before you order, and note it in the comments if you're ordering online or booking an event. Our kitchen prepares a wide range of dishes in a shared space, so we will always tell you honestly what we can and cannot accommodate.
Vegetarian and vegan dishes appear across the menus — see our FAQ for examples.
Reservations
Tables can be booked online or by phone. If your plans change, we'd appreciate as much notice as you can give — especially on busier evenings and around Yom Tov.
For larger parties, please contact us directly so we can seat you properly.
Private events and catering
Private dining and catering are arranged individually rather than through a fixed package. Send us the date, guest count and occasion through the private events or catering form and we'll come back within one business day with what's possible and what it costs.
Menus, staffing and timing are confirmed in writing before your event.
Gift cards
Gift cards can be purchased online and are redeemable in the dining room and for online orders. You can check a card balance at any time.
