Inside Shallots Bistro

Our Story

Kosher, without compromise.

Shallots opened in Skokie in 2004 with a straightforward idea: a kosher kitchen shouldn't mean a shorter menu. Two decades later we're still built on that — a proper steakhouse, a full sushi bar, and a catering operation that feeds Chicagoland's biggest simchas.

Our succulent steaks are a prime example of timeless bistro fare — classical preparations served with pommes frites and red wine reduction, alongside modern takes like blackened and Patrón-marinated cuts. The sushi bar works bluefin toro, king salmon and red snapper into nigiri and signature rolls.

Save room for the “Black Hat” molten chocolate cake — we bake it fresh for every single guest.

Everything here is 100% kosher under the supervision of the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc). We're closed Friday and Saturday for Shabbat.
